The Accidental Gardener

I never realised that I could get so much joy from gardening. I was an accidental gardener in my early teens but this has since progressed to much more.

This spring 2015, I have grown different varieties of daffodils and enjoyed the array of flowers blossoming on my balcony garden. I also have primroses, pansies and hyacinths too.

I look forward to a summer of gladioli and harvest of my spring crops which has been extensive. The most fascinating vegetable so far is the dwarf runner beans. If plants had legs then, it sure has some of the finest legs in town. It grows really fast that I quickly transplanted it to a 12 inch pot and hopefully later to a vegetable grow bag.

Watch this space for the outcome of my home grown chilli, cherry tomatoes, mixed salad leaves, spinach and sunflowers..

Let this old book I found at an Oxfam charity shop inspire you to improve your knowledge of horticulture. I definitely was very moved by it.'Our Village' by Miss M.R Mitford ( A Jane Austen enthusiast).

In love with Canterbury

I love Canterbury.. The first time I came to this city was nearly 3 years ago. I remember the journey very well as I caught my bus no 8 from Margate city centre on a sunny summer's day.

As we traveled across the countryside towards Canterbury, I had the pleasure of having a quick shot of the vast beautiful fields of Kent with Victorian and Georgian properties along the road side. Of course, I would often spot a few vintage/antique shops and would love to stop right way but I can't as there is more to behold in Canterbury.

I will leave you with  some photos I took and a quick video I made as I had the opportunity of catching some bits of the last festival in October/Nov 2012. I do not know the name of the festival but was glad that I saw it.

Music Weekend: Rudimental- "Not Giving In" ft. John Newman & Alex Clare

Fast beats with words of not giving in...

Fast visuals..

Set in the impoverished parts of the Philippines with affluent areas in sight if you look hard enough...

Beautiful captivating music video..

Street Crime is prevalent in all parts of the world..

It is sad to see how youths can be lost in chaotic dangerous environments and
feel the need to be part of it by engaging in crime...

I wonder what the truth behind the phrase 'Not giving in' truly means in this video.........

I hope it means not giving in to crime FULL STOP.

 Lost my heart
And lost my soul
Now it's time
Baby, oh no

Lost my mind
And lost my goal

Oh, not giving in
I'm not giving in
Not giving in
Woh, I'm not giving in

Ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh

This time,I'm gonna be stronger
I'm not giving in

Waste my time...
Lost, and now my love is cursed
Time to make these things feel right
Oh, let's start this show
Let's shine this time

Oh, I'm not giving in
Not giving in
Not giving in
Not this time
Not gonna give in

Ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

This time, I'm gonna be stronger
I'm not giving in

Nooo
Not giving in
Not giving in
I'm gonna be stronger
I'm gonna be stronger

(This time
I'm gonna be stronger
I'm not giving in)

A You Tube hit for spoof charity AFRICAN video urging fellow Africans to help Norwegians with radiators to help with the cold....

Simply classic!!!

A You Tube hit ...over 600,000 views in the last 7 days

Parody on 1985's US charity song 'We are the world'

Simply entertaining...and pleasantly challenges the stereotypes about Africa!!!

Make of it what you will,  It sent me bursting with loads of laughter..

Without undermining those that are really in need, I urge you to appreciate that there is more to Africa like 'Good humour'...

My Love for Kent xxxx 1st stop ASHFORD

Ashford

Even before I had the chance to really know this town, I was told it was nothing to write about.

But I have discovered the beauty of some of its vast plain fields filled with cows going about their business.

You know it was once a Market Town... A town, people really took pride in .....filled with lots of hustle and bustle and I really hope that in years to come it will have its buzz back ....

But I must say, if you look hard enough, you will see its charm..

Stay Tuned...
